The Law
THE CEREMONIAL LAWS AND THE MORAL LAW
The Law of Moses or the Ceremonial Law that was abolished by Christ was written in a book called the Book of the Law of Moses, (Joshua 8:31), and pertained to meat, (1 Timothy 4:3), and drink, (Romans 14:1; 1 Corinthians 8), and divers washing and offering of sacrifices set forth in the book of Leviticus with the exception of some references like this: (Leviticus 23:38) and so forth. This Law was abolished, (Hebrews 9-10 chapters, Colossians 2:14, 22. Ephesians 2:15, Hosea 2:11). The false shepherds put no defence between these Laws,(Leviticus 10:10).
The Moral Law was written on two tablets of stone by God himself and was magnified and made honourable by Christ fulfilling and keeping them and we are to follow Him. (Exodus 31:18, Exodus 34:1, Exodus 20:4_17, Matthew 5:17-19, Matthew 22:36-40, Luke 16:17, Romans 3:31, Romans 4:15, Romans 7:7-14, 1 Timothy 1:9)
Christ taught by example or by precept. He taught the first two commandments, (Matthew 14:10), the third (John 5:43, John 17:11-12 Church of God Acts 20:28, 1 Corinthians 1:1-2). Any other name is breaking the third commandments. The fourth, (Mark 2:28), by custom, which should be our custom if we will follow Him, (Luke 4:16), by precept, (Matthew 24:20). The last six (Matthew 19:18-19, Revelations 14:12, Revelations 22:14, Ecclesiastes 12:12).The Sabbath was made for man, that means all men to keep, (Mark 2:27). The Lord is Lord or ruler of the Sabbath, not Sunday.
Why were these laws abolished?
“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross” (Colossians 2:14).
Did Paul specify which laws?
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh. Colossians 2:16-23.
